I have a picture on KeenLace, which is all about us KeenSpace artists getting together to put up pictures of people wearing very few clothes. And, I am ashamed to say, I used recycled art. If you've read my archives, you'll know which piece I'm talking about. But I just drew a second piece, featuring a character not related to the story at all, and will see if I can't get that on KeenLace too. There. You happy now, Dr. Destruction? HISTORY The construction of the farmhouse is wattle and daub. This is essentially mud smeared on a wicker framework, and is a cheap, fast way of making a home. Speaking of cheap and fast, the peasants are not strange for eating Lorenzo's dire rat kill; it's a large animal with meat on its bones. In several countries even in the late Twentieth Century, some farmers were reduced to eating sheep's heads because they had no other meat. In antique Greece, Apollo was not only god of the Sun, but of prophecy and healing too. The Romans adopted Greek legends and assimilated them into their own, but their warlike race was not as suited to philosophy and metaphysics as the Greeks. They enslaved the populace and made them work for them, including priests and scribes who remained more important than many Roman citizens. Libero is a Knight of the Venetian Republic, a lieutenant to their commander-in-chief the Duke. His armour is entirely imaginary, but his other career has made him a lot of money, and he can afford not only chain and plate, but gilt inlay. Note his legs are comparatively unarmoured; he rides a horse, as all nobility do, and full plate/chain would chafe both him and his mount through the saddle most unmercifully. For this reason, the chain curiass extends down in a skirt that can be hitched up while riding, and he can attack thigh guards from his saddlebags in times of trouble. ART Yeh, pretty satisfied with this one. Libero's armour was designed on the fly, as I am wont to do, and it turned out great. The mountains casting off morning clouds are nice, as is the fireplace. Sure, I'm not ecstatic with it, but who really loves everything they do? GAME Libero, Knight of the Republic. He's one of the most important characters in the story for Part One, but not for reasons you'd expect. Go on, I bet you can't guess. If you can, I'll give you a prize... some art or a news post, maybe. |
